I haven’t done a Short Snippet Saturday Post due to the holidays. Maybe we all needed a break. 🙂 Today I bring you a snippet from Cowboy Boss and his Destiny.
Double Dutch Ranch Series: Love at First Sight #1. Some of you know, when I wrote this book, I never intended it to be a series. All it was intended to be was a happy-go-lucky story of falling in love–a Christmas novella. Well, it’s not a Christmas romance or a novella. The other brothers in this story had different ideas about Tristan being the only one getting a book. I’m doing a happy dance because I listened–and because I love all my cowboys.
This is the lightest storyline of any of my books. That’s just the way it is. I’ve nearly pulled this book from publication a few times because I am always defending the lighter storyline. Look, I’m doing it again.
When my cowboys come to me in a certain way, I have to write the story they give me. I’ve said before that I see Tristan as a gentle horse and he isn’t like his rambunctious brothers. I advise readers to move on to Tristan’s Destiny, Bonus Book #1.5 if they are looking for a little more punch in their novels.
Cowboy Boss has recently been revised, shortened, and re-edited.
Set Up: Tristan is a horse rancher but he also has a business on the side. Nora needs a job. He and Destiny meet Nora unexpectedly, so the chance for an official job interview doesn’t go as planned. Join them at the Coffee Shoppe in Canyon Junction.
From Chapter Two
She placed her hand on his arm. “You’re giving me the job without looking at my info?” Nora was filled with a sense of relief knowing she finally had a job, one she’d be proud of. She needed a minute to let it sink in.
“Oh, I’ll look at your info, have no fear. I didn’t see your resume, just your letter of introduction.”
Good thing she was sitting because the cute smirk on his face, and the sexy tone to his voice when he said, “have no fear,” her knees would have buckled if she were standing. After a sip of coffee, Nora said, “I do have a few questions of my own.”
“Of course you’ll have questions because I haven’t given a proper interview, which I apologize for.” He glanced around the shop, and continued, “How about this? You go home and get some questions together. I’ll pick you up for dinner and answer them.” He took her hand from its place on the table. “And for the record, Ms. Trinity, I don’t normally conduct interviews this way. What do ya say?”
Nora was captivated, still mesmerized over his dissimilar eyes. The loud music stopped playing, allowing for a better flow of conversation.
Destiny stopped drawing and looked up at her daddy and to Nora. “What do you say?” She stared at Nora as if waiting for an answer.
Nora never expected this, but she’d enjoy getting to know him better. “It’ll be okay.”
“I’ll come prepared to answer every question you have, but don’t be surprised if I have my own list.”
Tristan’s grin, revealing dimples on each side, was fabulous, and accentuated his handsome features. No wonder his daughter was so cute. She had the same dimpled cheeks. “I’ll come prepared.”
