When your heart speaks, take good notes. Judith Campbell
Maybe I’m not using this quote to mean what it was meant to say, but today I’ll use it to mean inspiration. Inspiration often strikes in the middle of the night. When my heart speaks, maybe I’m in the shower, driving, listening to music, or taking a walk. When an idea or scene comes, we can’t predict when it’ll happen, so be prepared to “take good notes.”
Do you have to write it down right away or speak it into a voice recorder on your phone or tablet? Yes, I sure have to. If not, I’ll have forgotten it by time I get up in the morning or get home. I’ve always had a notepad by my bed and carried a notepad (and camera) in my vehicle—even pulled into a parking lot to write down a few words to remind me of the idea. Have you, too? So, today, I’m using this quote by Judith Campbell for my Inspiration for the Muse.
What is your plan to capture a creative moment—“listen to your heart”? Whether it be a song lyric, a new recipe, a book title, a poem, or a sight to create the perfect photograph or painting. How do you “take good notes” to prevent an idea from becoming lost?
I hope y’all are having an excellent summer filled with friends, family, happiness, and fun in the sun. Don’t forget sunscreen. 🙂
Have a wonderful Tuesday!
Heat, ma’am! it was so dreadful here, that I found there was nothing left for it but to take off my flesh and sit in my bones. ~Sydney Smith, Lady Holland’s Memoir

I have to write it down immediately too, Mary!!! My brain is like a sieve. I do keep a notepad by my bed, but in the car it seems to be the backs of gas receipts! 🙂 Happy Inspiration!

Diana, I’ve been known to write on anything within reach too! In fact, I don’t have a notepad in this car. M’bad. I’d have to pull over and put it in my phone notes. That’ll change today because I didn’t realize it until now. I haven’t figured out what to do about shower notes yet. Happy Writing!

I do that all the time, when will I learn to write things down or make note of them somewhere. In the summer I experience brain fog, when it’s really hot and humid out I can’t think or function well unless I am holed up in the house with the AC blasting. Love the selection of quotes. I swear in the heat my brain swells just like my body and ceases to function.

I’m familiar with the summer brain fog, Suzanne, especially when the humidity is high, which is typical in my area. Thanks, I’m glad you liked the quote. Make a mental note to even jot down a couple words so you don’t forget your idea. I bet your ideas have something to do with making one of your wonderful recipes! Thank you for commenting.

Ha! Great collection of quotes, Mary. I used to be guilty of that (ideas coming to me, that I failed to write down, thinking surely I’d remember — and of course I never did). LOL, no — I didn’t finally write them down. I think there’s just so much junk in my head that there was no more room for them. Maybe I could “defrag” my brain (like the computer.) 😀 Huge hugs.

A long vacation would be a good way to defrag your brain. Even a short one away from everything. Like going to the beach in the photo on my post. It did me a lot of good the last time I went to that quaint little beach town. They have delicious fudge, which topped it all off!
I’ve lost a lot of ideas by not writing them down. Even recently. Ha! Thanks for commenting, Teagan.
