Week 47: My Writing Space
This is going to be somewhat short to prevent boredom. I wrote out an eight-hundred-word post describing in detail my desk and what surrounds me. Then I thought…hmm, that’s way too much.
My older desk is a corner desk in my living room. Once I turn my laptop off at night, this room becomes my living room again. During the day it is my office. I use a laptop, or two. A shredder sits beside my desk on the left. A TV sits to my right in the center of shelves between the kitchen and living room. I don’t watch TV during the day, but I’ve been known to be on my computer at night with the TV on, like when I’m writing this post. I see pictures of my boys on the shelves, and I’m in some of the pictures with them. My dog’s ashes are in a polished wooden box within my view. I can’t explain it, but it makes me miss her a little less to think she’s close.
My bike sits beside my desk. It isn’t in use, but I had a trainer attached to use as a stationary bike.
I have a variety of “things” on my shelves, including my photography and writing books, my own and others, DVDS and more.
The greeting card above sits on my desk in a frame. Some of you have seen this before in a previous post.
I can’t count the number of Sticky-Notes I have around my laptop area. This lady loves Sticky-Notes. A few candles sit near. Two large horse pictures are on the long wall I face. One is black and white and one is a paint horse in color. In the center of the wall, in the middle of those horse pictures, is a long, rectangular picture of a ranch setting with a barn and one horse within the fenced area. The picture is black and white, but the barn has an American flag in color—the only color in the picture. I posted this black and white horse picture and other special things in an earlier post.
Basically, my writing space is important to do my job and other desk-related work, like paying bills. Sometimes…well, okay, often, I eat here. I feel good that I’m surrounded by items and sights that have a special meaning to me.
Toot, toot, by the way…one of the jobs I finished at this same desk was released this week. Finding Kimber has made its way out into the world. Yes, that toot, toot was my horn. 🙂 ❤
Don’t y’all forget this is a BLOG HOP. Let’s take a peek at more author writing spaces. I’ll be visiting a friend this afternoon so I’ll catch up with your posts as soon as I can.
I hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving. My youngest son and daughter-in-law came home to visit. We had a nice couple of days together. It was fun that we could share their pictures from their honeymoon in Ireland. They had withdrawals so one day we went to an authentic Irish Restaurant near me. Yum. Enjoy your weekend.

I love sticky notes, too and different colored ink pens. My favorites are gel pens. I also use them in the Happy Planner that’s stacked on my end of the dining room table.

Oh, gel pens are so much fun. I love doodling with them. I always had them in my drawer at work. Thanks for reading, Alicia.

This is a lovely personal post, Mary. Hey, you’ve got a desk, so you are miles ahead of me! My workspace seems to be my coffee table, and I’m surrounded by the brown packing paper Crystal likes to play with. LOL. But I’m so glad she is still doing well (considering the IBD) that I don’t care how bad it looks.
So happy you got to spend time with your son. Hugs!

Since it’s in my living room, Teagan, it’s convenient to use my desk. For a long time I used my lap or even a card table, which had to be put up and taken down. I admit having a desk is much more comfortable. Glad to hear Crystal is feeling good enough to play. Give her a pat for me.

Oh, and I have one sticky note… LOL, I keep it over the camera that’s built into my laptop. You never know!

I have one in that exact spot, Teagan. I read an article by an IT guy in Internet security who said he does that, and if he does, than I’m darn sure doing it too.

In my work area I have notebooks, and binders, and folders, and loose pieces of paper, and reference books, and sticky notes also! Plus the occasional coffee cup or glass, and a million pens. Your work area looks very comfy and neat compared to mine!

Well, trust me, Alina, it isn’t usually very neat. Just don’t open the drawers and don’t look under the desk. Oh, pens. I forgot to mention pens–another weakness. 🙂

I adore sticky notes! And I tend to hoard little trinkets and cute things in my writing area, and then I realize I need to cull them because I am much more productive in a neat little space. (but I love cute trinkets! lol) Love your space! Thanks for sharing!

I have to put things away, too, Maureen, because I don’t like moving things to dust. LOL. Sticky notes not included. Thanks for reading.

I feel like Cookie Monster with sticky notes instead of cookies. Thanks for the luck on the release, Cathy.

I’m also a sticky-note writer. I own lots and lots of index cards, but they don’t do it for me. I need the color, I guess. LOL. Enjoyed the tour!

I worked with a teacher who loved them as much as I did, and we both gave each other a pack or two of sticky notes for Christmas for the heck of it. Neither of us work now, but we’re friends, and we still do it! I like the colors too. Enjoy your weekend, Sherry.

Congrats on your release this week!!
Nice desk area. I was too scared to take a picture of my actual desk because it’s so cluttered. *hides in shame* I don’t use stickie notes, but I do have tons of notebooks and scraps of paper where I’ve jotted down things.

Thanks, Meka. The release seemed like a long time coming. Well, I first wrote the post with just descriptions, but then I caved and took a picture. That doesn’t mean it will stay up forever. LOL. I cleaned it off a bit first, plus I had company and since it sits in the open… Well, I needed to at least dust it.

It was a total surprise when my son and DIL told me they were coming for Thanksgiving. ❤ It was a working visit to take a final load from their storage unit, but both sides of the family were tickled to see them. Have a great weekend, too, Diana.

I use index cards rather than sticky notes. I like being able to shuffle them around. Sometimes I color code them, but I have not had the time or energy of late to be that ambitious.

Shari, I used to be an index card person and have some in my drawer now. I get them out now and then. They are much easier to shuffle around. 🙂
