Welcome back to Marketing for Romance Writers 52-Week Blog Challenge.
Week 11: If I never had to do this one task again….
This sounds like another topic where I won’t be following the rules. One Task? If only I had but one task never to do again…
My heart isn’t into Week 11. Not because of the topic itself, but I haven’t felt good and still don’t, and edits came back this week. I finished them, and I’m in the process of proofreading before the manuscript goes to the formatter.
This is what I came up with, but maybe I should’ve skipped this week.
Home:
- If dust magically disappeared and I never had to dust again, I’d never have to look at dust on shelves and my desk, etc. It’s removing the pictures and knickknacks part that makes this bothersome to me. I don’t have a lot on display because of this task.
- If I never had to empty another vacuum dispenser or bag, I’d vacuum more often. Oh, how awful of me to admit!
- If I never had to carry in groceries again, my back would thank me.
Writing Life:
- If I never had to do marketing and promoting in my writing life, I’d have more time to write and take care of the paperwork involved with this business.
- If I never had to do paperwork, I’d still have more time for writing, but my CPA and the IRS would not be happy with me. However, I kind of like being in control of my own business.
Sure, I could pay someone to do all of these things. Maybe one day I will, but what would I have to complain about if I did?
I could add a lot more under this topic, but I already went over my one task. It’s best I stop here.
Hop on over to visit the other participants, because this is a BLOG HOP, baby!
Enjoy your weekend.

I definitely agree with your ‘writing life’ thoughts. Dusting, too; I’m allergic to it. The dust, not the dusting.

The chore of dusting seems to be common with a lot of us, Ed. But worse if you’re allergic to it. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

I am in total agreement on all counts, Mary. Housework is the equivalent of Sisyphus rolling the rock up the hill, and marketing is just plain old nasty. Ha ha. I hope you start feeling better, and congrats on getting through your editing!

Welcome back, Diana. LOL, now everyone will think we writers have filthy homes. That isn’t true. It just doesn’t get done as often as it should. Oh, yeah, that revision was a huge job to take on. I’m still shaking over the decision. I’m not feeling all that good yet, but it isn’t the flu. I don’t know what it is. 😦

Stress? I tend to wear myself out occasionally and my body responds by getting sick. Writing is tough, emotional work. Whatever it is, relax and take care of yourself. ❤

Gosh Mary, I can relate. I’ve taken care of the groceries item with PeaPod delivery, but all the other things are on my list too. Feel fabulous fast. Hugs!

Whoa, Teagan, I just rescued you from the Spam Folder. Sorry you were in there so long. Now you know how Bedlam feels. 😉 I never saw this comment until now. I’ll have to look up PeaPod. I’ve only seen one delivery service around here.

Oh that explains why I smelled a meat-like substance… LOL No worries. I’ve been landing in a lot of spam folders lately. I’ve noticed that sometimes the comments (that should not go to my spam folder) don’t show up in it until several days after the date on them too…
In my experience grocery stores are regional. If you have “Giant” you might have Peapod. But it would be worth looking into whether anything is available. More hugs.

There’s truth in every statement you made, Mary. I don’t mind dusting until I break something. I don’t like vacuuming because it hurts my back. I hate marketing but must do it anyway. Sorting paperwork actually soothes my mind. Go figure. Maybe my analytical side needs paperwork. Congrats on a new book!

I’m glad sorting paperwork is soothing for you, Catherine. I setup my excel sheets for whatever I need, but my son adds the formulas, like for expenses and books/writing. At least that part is easier thanks to him. For Non-writing paperwork like junk mail and paying bills, I’d rather have someone else do that task. LOL. Not going to happen, but one can dream.
The book is a newly revised edition, not a “true” new book, but thank you. Well, I guess it did turn into a new book in a way, but not a new release since I’m only uploading over the old…I think. 🙂

I am delighted to learn that I am not the only one who hates to do housework of most kinds 🙂

I think by now I’m tired of it, Sherry. Let’s go with that! 🙂

Hi, Helen. I wonder what happened to the days when I cleaned all the time. I have no one here to see it now? I write full-time? That’s my story… I’m not as bad as it sounds though. I do dust on occasion, and I’m still vacuuming up dog hair. I hate dishes in the sink, so they get done. 🙂

I’m with you on the dusting. It is such a pain to have to move things around to get at the blasted dust.

I know, Fran, you wouldn’t think something that easy would be a pain. I’m glad you stopped by.

Oh yes, the marketing! Not a fan of that aspect either. There’s so much to do, so much on your shoulders that takes away from the writing time.
Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the well-wishes, Meka. I think I have a mild case of the flu. I ache all over, and I’m exhausted.
Unfortunately, I haven’t put much time into marketing since I pulled two books from publication. I figure with my first book out of the series, why bother. But, that book will be back soon. I do have my first in the spin off series discounted, so that seems to be helping for that series. It’s a part of life we have to accept. Thanks for visiting.
