Somehow the Fourth had its quiet moments, too, even for little feet and childish voices, and small hands stole into each other as we sat looking at our fire-works with a sense that independence was a fine thing to declare.

It seems that despite all her troubles and flaws, we’re all sticking with her. I hope you had a beautiful Fourth, Mary.

That’s right, Diana. My Fourth was good. Quiet until dark, then a fireworks display took place in my courtyard. I’m sure some of those Big Boomers were not allowed here. 🥳

We missed the fireworks (my husband hates traffic), so we had a nice quiet evening. I think I might have liked visiting your place. 😀

It was quiet inside my place. I don’t like traffic either. Glad I didn’t have to go out.
