      Posted at 4:21 pm by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on April 17, 2018

What the heck have I been working on since the major revision of Cowboy Boss and his Destiny? Well, folks, for those of you who are interested, I’m back to working on book three in the spin off–Canyon Junction: Hearts in Love Series–Wade’s story. No, Wade’s story isn’t the title. The title is a whole other deal going on here in my head.

I have three titles sitting at the top of my manuscript in fancy font looking as pretty as can be, but I can’t select the right one. They’re okay, but they don’t feel like “the one.” The other night I typed a good line… “Hmm, well, now,” I said to myself . “This could be my title.” It’s growing on me.

By the looks of things, this might be the only book I publish this year. I had a goal of two. Of course, I’m not giving up on the goal yet, but with all the medical stuff going on in my life right now, I’m not sure what lies ahead besides more tests.

Anyway, for readers of my spin off series, you have met Wade Emory in the first book. He works Mary J McCoy-Dressel, western romancewith Jake Lawton as a foreman and now owns part of Jake’s ranching supply business. However, his luck with women sucks. Isn’t it awful for a romance hero’s love life to suck? In all fairness, he hasn’t been a book hero, but I’ve had so much fun turning him into one. Wade is worthy of being called a romance hero now.

As a secondary character in Whispers of Forever, Wade began a serious relationship with a woman in the Air Force who lived in Las Vegas, but nope, luck evaded him. In Finding Kimber, his buddy, and best friend, Dane Carlson, set him up with a, well, ahem, let’s move on, and say Wade wasn’t big on dating someone recently out of college who had a drinking problem. In this case, he made sure there wouldn’t be a second date. Oh, and then… Blah, blah,  this is the story of his life.  In his book, he takes a trip, but it isn’t for a vacation. It all boils down to… Will he have to travel four hundred miles from home to meet “the one”? Coming in 2018.

Here’s a little tidbit from my draft: UPDATE: This book is available!

      #3

Wade hurried down the stairway, taking two steps at a time, through the lobby, and out the door. He caught the guy getting into a shuttle bus and yanked him off before he got to the second step. “You’re not going anywhere.” The smell of alcohol filled the air between them. Wade held his arm and dragged Clay back up the stairs without anything more than a missed swing from the drunk, and a few eyes from hotel patrons. Wade pounded on her door, and when she opened it, he shoved the guy inside. “Give the lady her money, or you won’t leave here walking.”

She shoved Wade in the chest. “What in the hell are you doing?” She clasped her hands together and faced her brother. “Give me my money, Clay. You didn’t even care how me and Tanner got home. Do you think I’ll forget this?” She reached into his pocket for her money. “Get out of my life.”

Her brother glared back and forth at her and Wade. “You’ll be sorry.”

“I was sorry when I came to get you out of jail. Oh, if Dad were here, he’d beat you silly.”

“I can do the job.” Wade shifted his stance and smirked.

“You? Who are you? No, never mind.” She flipped her hand toward the door. “Would you get out of my room?”

Wade held his stubborn ground. “Not until he leaves.”

She glared at her brother. “You heard the man.”

Wade shoved him toward the door and watched over the balcony railing until he staggered out of the hotel. He peered at her and shook his head, then left for a dinner he didn’t feel like eating.

    • Short Snippet Saturday: Whoa There, Little Filly #AmWriting

      Posted at 1:13 pm by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on May 20, 2017

Hello! Today I’m bringing y’all a short snippet from Howdy, Ma’am, the first book in the Bull Rider Series. I do love the cowboy hero in this book. He and Velia sure have had a tough ride in the three books in this series.

      Set up:

Velia divorced her first husband, Justin. Her dad accompanied her to the courthouse, along with two of the men who work for him. Justin had caused a scene in the courtroom. Because of Justin’s history of abuse, her dad sent one of his men, Roy Bianco, home with Velia after court. Caulder had been invited to dinner the next day, but there was an incident minutes before he arrived, and Velia ended up in the hospital. Roy and Caulder stay with her at home that night. She’ll soon be leaving with Caulder on the bull riding circuit.

After Alice left, Velia went to the kitchen and got a wine glass from the cupboard.

Caulder jumped up and hurried to her. “Whoa there, little filly, you can’t be drinking with that pain medication.” He slipped his arm around her waist.

“I forgot.” She grasped the woodwork along the doorway.

Roy came to assist Caulder with her, but Caulder picked her up and carried her to bed. Roy lingered right behind. “Is she okay?”

“She’s dizzy.” He laid her on the bed and pulled the covers over her. “Maybe you should stay right here.”

“I’m fine.” She grimaced then held her head. “Maybe not.”

“Your pain pill is starting to work, Velia. Let it ease the pain and stop fighting western romance, mary j McCoy-Dresselagainst it.” Caulder rested one knee on the side of the bed and brushed the hair away from her face, gently running his knuckles along her cheek.

She looked up at him. With the tender care everyone was giving to her, she felt more like a child than a grown woman, but the burning fire making its way over her body, reminded her she was no child. And neither was Caulder.

“Rest while you can. We’ll be waking you soon.” He leaned forward and softly kissed her forehead.

He stopped several inches from her face and stared into her eyes. Another heated rush fell over her. She wanted him to lie beside her and hold her in his arms. Velia closed her eyes and felt the mattress rise as he lifted his knee.

He moved away and stood beside the bed. “Try to get some rest,” he said, as he turned to leave. Caulder whirled around at the door. “I’m sorry this happened to you.” He stuck his hands in his pockets and rocked back on his heels.

      “I’ll be all right.”

He hurried back to the bed and put another kiss on her forehead, cupping her face in the process.

She covered a yawn with the back of her hand, feigning sleepiness so he’d leave, but in reality, she hid the fervor in her eyes. The warmth of his lips lingered on her skin. Why would he do such a thing? Her weighted eyelids fluttered, and she fought to keep them closed. When he walked away, she opened her eyes as he went through the door. He sat in the chair positioned where she could see him from the bed. She moved to her side and watched his motions as he sipped wine and talked to Roy while they ate. Once he glanced back in at her. What’d she get herself into? Would he expect perks while on the road? Would she?

      End of Excerpt.

I love Caulder, but oh, you have to like Roy Bianco. The dear man had a big role and a big job in Hey, Cowboy, Book Two, which proves why the family needs him. In book three, Ric Armano actually visited Velia without Roy and Nero, but he should’ve been there.

Hello to you all. It’s the weekend!

Mary J McCoy-Dressel, Western romance, series romance

Oh, you want to know where I’ve been? I’ve been far away from my blog, that’s for sure, but when I have a book ready to come out, I’m totally consumed by the process. I’m doing the final read-through on my Kindle. It’s amazing what you hear when Kindle reads your manuscript to you. Anyway, I’m on the countdown now to my formatting date…ten, nine, eight…actually it’s only two more days. Lassoing the Last Dance is in the very final stages.

But today I bring you a not-so-short excerpt from Heartbreak’s Reward. I’m choosing to provide an excerpt from this book because the book is on sale and I’m one of the authors participating in The Kindle Book Review Spring Fling.

Jase Carlson is the oldest brother at the Double Dutch Ranch. He’s a favorite hero, but Randy Drake from Lassoing the Last Dance is giving him a run for the money. Good thing they’re good friends.  🙂 Jase’s cousin Caulder from my Bull Rider Series makes his appearance in this book.

      western romance, Mary J McCoy-Dressel

This excerpt comes from Chapter One. Jase and his brother Tristan left the courthouse after Jase was awarded soul custody of his two kids. Jase has a good reason for not trusting his ex-wife to return the kids to him on the following weekend.  Enjoy. (A bit of cursing is involved in the excerpt.)

western romance, contemporary romance, Mary J McCoy-Dressel

Once they rolled into the neighborhood, Tristan checked the number on Jase’s phone. “It should be right up here, according to the GPS.” He checked each address as they passed. “There,” he said, pointing to the left.

“There’s no curtains on the windows, Trist.”

“Sonofabitch.” Tristan flung his seatbelt off and hit his palm against the dashboard.

“She doesn’t even live here?” Jase released the clutch and jumped out, ran up to the windows, and peered inside. “There’s nothing in here. Not a damn thing.”

Tristan followed him to the house, shaking his head. “She either moved before court, or lied to her lawyer again. You sure you got the right address?”

“I got the right address.” He went back to the truck for his phone. “I have to call Tom.” He paced in front of his truck, and said to Tristan, “She lied about everything, and has no intention of bringing the kids back.”

Jase left a message for his lawyer and hung up. A neighbor walked from across the street. “You all looking for somebody?”

“Yeah, the woman who lived here.” Jase sauntered up to the man and pointed back at the house. Either a nosy neighbor or someone who might be able to help.

“Ah, she’s gone. Packed up last weekend and moved out. Can’t say I was sorry to see them go.” The man pointed across the street to another house. “I stood right there and watched.”

“A woman with two kids?” asked Jase, his voice already quivering.

“That’s right.” The neighbor turned to go.

Tristan called after the man. “Wait. How many people lived here? I mean…did the woman have a man with her.”

“A couple guys. Well…” The man hesitated.

Jase took a step forward. “They’re my kids and that was my wife.”

The neighbor folded his arms and stared at the ground. “Well, she lived there with her husband…or so I thought. The other guy…well, he just lived there.”

“I was her husband,” said Jase, “until today. What about the kids? Two of them…a boy and a girl.” He held his palm flat to indicate their height.

“Nope, they all moved out. Cute kids, too. Well-behaved. Their dad—sorry. The guy watched them sometimes.”

Tristan asked the man, “You don’t happen to have any photos, do you? Maybe of the asshole pretending to be their dad?”

The man shook his head. “No, nothing like that.”

Jase weakened. Shook his head. Diverted his eyes. “Thanks, man.” He headed for the truck and got in the passenger side. He waited for his brother and handed him the keys. He slouched down in the seat and lowered his hat over his eyes.

Tristan backed out of the driveway in Tucson and headed back home toward Canyon Junction. Most of the trip was spent in silence until they stopped to eat. He turned to Tristan. “Some asshole I don’t know watched my kids. I’ll find them…and him. I swear I will. Not even God can help him if he hurts my babies.”

End of Excerpt. Thanks for reading.

    • Before the Story~ Interview Questions with a Book Hero

      Posted at 4:04 pm by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on June 17, 2015

      Life:

Remember when I said I wouldn’t interview one of my characters again? I felt the need to do a pre-book or pre-life story interview with Dane Carlson before readers actually meet him in his upcoming book. There are a few things here about Dane that won’t be in his book.

Dane has the fourth book in the Double Dutch Ranch Series: Love at First Sight—numbered Book Three. Confusing? Tristan’s Destiny, Bonus Book 1.5 adds to the series.

You’ll be meeting Dane very soon. Available Now! Let’s delve into a bit of his past.

      Here you go:

After following Dane to the garage to put his motorcycle away, we came out to the patio to have a little chat. I’m still straightening my hair after that ride. He’s preparing to take a quick ride into the desert on horseback, then he’ll have lunch with his family before leaving on another deployment. Thankfully, he agreed to this interview if I promised not to make it too long. I don’t mind sitting here ogling him either, while sipping a glass of Judy Carlson’s special iced tea.

MJ: So you’re the youngest of the Carlson brothers. Do your brothers tease you about being the baby of the family?

DANE: Of all questions, you had to ask that one? Of course they do and sure don’t hesitate callinmotorcycle2g me “little brother.” It’s okay because I know I’m stronger, smarter, and better looking than those two guys. I don’t hesitate to remind them when they get on my case. See, I can tease right back. Should I start on you? After all, you hung on to me so tight on my Harley, I wasn’t sure I could turn the dang handlebar. It kinda felt like I needed a cigarette after, if you know what I mean—

MJ: I can see you brought your snarkiness with you today. Ah, no, this is about you, not me—

      DANE: We’ll see about that.

I admit it’s doggone sexy the way the corner of his mouth kind of quirks when he grins. For some reason I’m ready to answer anything he might ask me—he has that kind of control.

MJ: Can we talk about the nickname your family calls you?

      DANE: No. No!

MJ: Humph… You kind of resemble your brothers if you look close at your facial features and blue eyes, but you’re blond and their hair is so dark. You’re all very easy on the eyes, either way.

DANE: I thank you for that, ma’am, but what are you saying? Maybe I’m a ranch hands kid? Shall I invite my mom to this interview to see what she has to say about that? She’s right there in the kitchen making cookies…for me.

He downright laughed at me that time.

MJ: Let’s move on. I know you didn’t have ranch hands in New York where you grew up. Back on topic if you don’t mind. Years ago, you gave up ranching to serve your country. Were you tired of ranching or never really got into it?

DANE: My dad moved us to Arizona—basically on a whim to follow his own dream. Why shouldn’t I follow mine? I’m happy being an Army Ranger. In fact, I love it. rangers in action3I became a soldier at a tough time in my life, so the military helped keep me from going down the wrong path. Since I was already headed that way, I knew I had to do something, or become an embarrassment to my whole family. The sheriff and I have a history. Let’s drop that. By time my dad died, my brothers were here to help out my mom. Everything is good.

MJ: Sounds like you had issues with your dad. What was your relationship like?

DANE: Don’t be silly now. I loved my dad and what he stood for. Our relationship? Typical troublemaker son and father, yet he understood me more than anyone. That says it all. He was proud when I became a soldier.

MJ: Do you ever want to go back to ranching?

DANE: My mom says some choices are not ours to make and our path is laid out for us. If the need arises I’ll decide then—whatever tomorrow brings… At least I’ll have something to fall back on. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Double Dutch Ranch and what it’s about, including family. I’d never turn my back on my family if they needed me.

      MJ: Or your wife?

DANE: Of course my wife would be included. IF, I had one. Not in my immediate plans. You sound like my mother now. Are you trying to fix me up with someone? He snickered and flicked his gaze away from me, but right back with steadfast eye contact. I get that a lot.

He lit a cigarette and kind of smirked again as he stared off into the desert in front of us.

MJ: Well, one woman comes to mind. What’s your type? I’ll reiterate what your mother says. “Some choices are not ours to make, er, yours to make.” My turn to smirk at the ever so handsome Dane Carlson. Hmm. Little does he know—his type is about to enter his life.

DANE: Yes, ma’am. I guess I’ll know my type when I meet her. Hope you don’t mind the cigarette, but I’ll be sitting on a fu…ah, a boring plane for a while. I’m making up for the time when I can’t smoke.

MJ: Congratulations on your recent promotion in the military. Do you enjoy the ceremonies?

DANE: Thank you. Yes, I do. It makes me proud, not only for myself, but also to see those under me get promoted too.

MJ: If I understand this correctly, you gave up the chance to go to a military academy to become an officer. Why?

DANE: What’s wrong with being a principle Non-commissioned Officer, which is what I am you know?

MJ: Nothing at all. You’re great at doing what you do, and this is also what I wanted for you. I’m happy you agree for once.

He stood and snickered before pacing a short ways off the patio. He looked good in the forefront of the Superstition Mountains—from the back, and the front. Dane is Mary J McCoy-Dressel, western romance, Double Dutch Ranch Series Booksexceptionally good-looking and well-built. What you’d expect a combat soldier to look like physically. All muscle, and I bet I could flip a quarter off his chest. Whew! I’ll stop now. (To fan myself)

DANE: Ahem. Do you have any more questions or are dane snip and cropyou going to continue to, um, stare? Because I have to get on a horse to ride with my brother Jase. I’m heading for another deployment, you know and need time to focus—get back into soldier mode. I admit that I’m still in rancher mode. His voice lowered from its commanding deep tone. It’s always hard to leave once I’m home, but don’t get me wrong…leaving is what I do.

MJ: It’s too bad you have to leave. I agree with your mom that you need someone in your life… Isn’t there a slight chance you’d let someone in?

Dane took a seat, leaned forward, and cocked his head toward me. His eyes slightly narrowed against the sun.

DANE: You mean like before? I’ve let women in but my priority is the Army. Most can’t deal with that. But, a chance? Who knows? I suppose it can happen. My mom insists it will. You probably agree?

      Most definitely!

MJ: Well, I do write romance, so maybe you shouldn’t fight it. Let’s just say I can see into your future. Another bit of advice, Dane. No, never mind… Stay strong and Ranger Up.

DANE: I always Ranger up. That doesn’t sound good at all, MJ, and I can’t get into any of that negative shi…stuff. I’m part of an elite team, better trained than many others in the world, and they depend on me and the men I help train. I’m a Ranger, ma’am. What we do is because we choose to do it. Don’t ever forget that.

Shall I salute him? No, I’ll just be proud of him.

MJ: You’re adamant about your job. I’m very proud of you, Dane, and even though you’re a soldier, our story isn’t a military romance because I write Western Romance. Is that okay with you?

DANE: Yes, ma’am. Absolutely, because I never know what the future holds, but whichever it is, I’ll always be a soldier and a cowboy or vice versa.

MJ: I’m glad you see it that way. My way!

DANE: Sure. Now, it’s about time I grab a saddle and lunch later. Join us for lunch. Mom always has room at her table.

I noticed he didn’t ask me to join him. Dane is very bold and demanding at times. He brushed his hair back and put on his hat. A black Stetson fit his character, but so does the tan beret he wears with his uniform.

DANE: Take care, MJ. Don’t forget, I got your back. Now, you coming?

Oh, goodness, am I coming? His wink got to me. There he goes toward the patio door… But, wait, he’s turning back… He lifted his chin. Before me, I see a man filled with confidence, honor, and courage.

      DANE: HOOAH!

MJ: Holding tears back as he’s leaving, I repeat it back…HOOAH. Hooah, Dane. Good luck.

Well, folks, there he is. Hardheaded. Stubborn. Demanding. But also… Hot. Strong. Gallant. Charismatic. I can’t wait for you to meet him.

Guess what? I don’t usually yell but, GUESS WHAT? Here’s a news flash.

There’s going to be a sequel to Howdy, Ma’am. My hero, who makes my heart swoon, came to me and said, “Howdy, ma’am, you know there’s more to this story. What do you say about giving us a second book?” Oh, I can see why his heroine melts when he’s around. I had to give in to this handsome man with eyes so blue. I’m already on Chapter four. Now, I hope everyone is happy! I know I am. This puts a few other projects on the back burner, okay, further back on the back burner, but this is important. You’ll see. Come along with me as soon as you can, to see what happens when this classy chick takes a longer ride with the rowdy dude.

A while ago I did an interview with the legendary C.J Hollenbach. His interview has continued to receive hits on my blogs, so I decided to update some of the questions and information and re-post an updated version. C.J. was glad to answer my new questions and update me on new happenings in his life.

So for this Valentine’s Day, I invite you to get comfortable and enjoy reading my wonderful interview with Christopher James (CJ) Hollenbach, Romance Cover Model and “Fantasy Hunk of 2001.” In the beginning I sent C.J. a swarm of questions and asked him to answer 10 or 15. He chose to answer them all. What a guy! Hold on, Ladies and gents. And keep that cold shower ready.

Mary– “Tall, blond, muscular, smart, and sexy all rolled into one! C.J, welcome. Thank you for this wonderful interview!”

“I learned a long time ago to never argue with a woman and I’m not about to start with the comments you’ve made in your introduction of me. I will completely agree with you!” CJ

Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?

A: I always thought I would be an artist. I was a fine arts major in college, painting. There was one professor who said I was the only freshman that year with any talent. I finally figured out what the term “starving artist” meant and switched to graphic design.

Q: If it wasn’t modeling, did you pursue that career before your modeling career began?

A: I did a lot of freelance design and illustration for a while after college. Unfortunately for me, the whole college experience was ruined by the powers that ran it. It made me sad that I no longer had the desire to do the thing that I really loved doing and was so good at.

Q: What was your first thought when someone suggested you should model?

A: I thought they were CRAZY. I never thought I was even passably attractive until I was 25!

Q: Was it hard to land your first cover, to break into the business?

A: It was incredibly hard! It took me 8 years to get my first cover! Who else would be crazy enough to stick with something that long, but I always knew I could do it. I believed in myself when nobody else did. I’m very proud of myself for it too…. Follow your dreams! Sometimes they come true…
I totally believe this, CJ. Follow your dreams…

Q: After your first cover shoot and you went home that night, what were your first thoughts about being a real cover model?

A: Actually, I didn’t wait until I got home that night. As I was leaving the photo studio in NYC this lady stopped me on the sidewalk and said “Hey, you look like one of those guys on the cover of a romance novel!” I smiled and could honestly say for the first time “I AM one of those guys!!!” I will never forget that moment…

Q: Do you keep your hair long for covers or for you?

      A

: It’s both. There are a million guys with short, dark hair and great bodies. If you want a long haired blond, I’m your man these days. I think when they use cheap wigs on the models it just looks fake. In my everyday life it just bothers so many people for some reason. I think I keep it long just to tick them off too. It’s just hair folks. Most people can grow it!

Q: What does your mom think of your covers…and posing for Playgirl?

A: My family never understood my modeling career. My mother did say once “You should give up this modeling business. You’re not that good looking anyway, and I don’t know who ever told you, you were!” Ouch! She’s seen some of my covers and likes them, especially when her friends see them and ask about me. I never asked her permission about the Playgirl thing. I told my family about it afterward.

UPDATE: The printed version of Playgirl went belly up a while back. I kid my cover bud, Julian Fantechi, who was their last “Man Of The Year” that he was the one who put them out of business. They are only on the internet now…

Q: How long does a typical shoot take? Briefly tell us about one?

A: Generally, any shoot in New York will take EXACTLY one hour. They have it down to an art there. For me, there are always a fan or fans blowing my hair around. I have to stand there and look “heroic.” Sucking in my gut and pushing out the pecs. Pretty standard stuff.

Q: Today’s models are hot! Have you ever worked with the same model more than once? Any romance?

A: On behalf of the men, thank you! I did 2 covers with the same girl, but we shot them both one right after each other. She was incredibly beautiful. Since I am from Ohio I am always out the door as soon as I’m finished shooting to catch a plane. The women are also out the door to their next shoot or go-see. It’s a business…Wish I could tell you something more juicy!

Q: You have met some of the authors of the books you model for. Do any of them ever show up for a photo shoot?

A: I’ve never had an author at a shoot. Then, again I’ve never visited an author when she was writing her book either.

Q: I know you like to write, and I have heard you’re a pretty good writer. What kinds of things do you write? Are you published?

A: People tell me they enjoy reading my work. Others can’t believe I wrote it! I have generally been writing autobiographical pieces. I’ve lived a very interesting and colorful life that people seem to enjoy reading about. I’ve been published in numerous magazines and newspapers. One of these days I’ll get that novel finished.

Q: As a writer I always knew I wanted to write. Did you always feel it. Do you want to pursue a writing career?

A: I just sort of fell into it in high school when I started writing articles for the local newspaper for pay. Then, in college my English professors would always comment on how they enjoyed reading my papers. I plan on pursuing more writing…

Q: Can you share a little about your favorite story or article you’ve written?

A: My favorite one was about my being in the first “Mr. Romance” contest many years ago. Originally, it was supposed to run in Playgirl magazine. But, the editor who asked me to write it got canned and so did the article, “Confessions Of A Male Beauty Contestant”. It’s still being shopped around for a possible movie deal. I just signed another contract for it recently.

Q: C.J, you have a very nice physique. Okay, I really want to say “a SMOKING HOT body.” What is your workout schedule like?

A: Thanks for noticing! I workout 6 days per week. Breaking up the body parts. Legs one day, arms another, chest another. Abs and calves everyday. Cardio at least 3 times per week for 40 minutes.
Thanks for noticing? Ahem… CJ…you’re welcome, sweetie.

Q: Have you done other types of modeling?

A: I think I’ve done every kind there is. I did the mainstream stuff years ago when my hair was short. For J.C. Penney’s and all that. I’ve also done hand and hair modeling. I even did a shoot for senior citizen’s support hose. They paid well.
(Haha, C.J. you crack me up! 🙂 You’re just too adorable.)

Q: Do you mainly work on your own or do you have an agent? Are you contracted by a publishing house?

A: Most ALL of my work has been through networking. Agents in Ohio really have no idea what to do with me, but are more than happy to take 20% for taking a phone call. I am without an agent and get all my jobs from referrals.

Q: I wanted you for the cover of my book, but my publisher used their own models. If someone is self publishing, or they suggest you for a cover how can an author or publisher contact you for a cover?

      A. I’ve always thought most publishers could care less who they put on the cover. If I charge the same amount as a model they usually use and I have a fan base that will sell more books WHY wouldn’t you use ME? It’s just stupid business on their part. I do more to promote the books I’m on than any other model I know too. That’s just smart business for me. I can be contacted several ways. My website, Facebook, and if you ask around you’d be surprise how many people know me. I’ve been in the romance business for 17 years! I’m very reasonable, by the way! (More than 17 years now.)
(I”m never giving up on having you on a cover.)

Q: Would you ever pose nude or semi-nude for a cover?

      Myrra’s Choice, by Eve Jameson

A: I’ve already posed nude for several covers and calendars, but all the “good stuff” was tastefully hidden. You really can’t sell a novel in Borders Book Stores with a nude man on he cover. The internet is a different story. There is one company that used a nude shot of me on several of their covers.

Q: I love long hair on men. Is there anything that would get you to cut it?

A: I think about cutting it all the time. I would never cut it for a photo shoot. If they can put long haired wigs on guys with short hair they can put a short haired wig on me! No plans to cut it anytime soon.

Q: Do you read romance novels? Favorite movie?

A: I’ve read some of the ones whose cover I’m on. They are written from a woman’s POV and men would never write it like that. I’ve read a few good ones… I have too many authors in the business who are friends of mine to say whose book is a favorite! I have several favorite movies. “Titanic,” the original B/W version with Clifton Web and Barbara Stanwyck. “The Birds” are favorites of mine…

Q: Would you call yourself a romantic?

A: I wouldn’t, but I have been told I am. I just do the “little things” that I don’t even consider a big deal only to find out later that they are. I used to make my own Valentine cards. Those always seemed to go over well. The artist in me, I guess…
(From what I know of you, C.J., I’d say you are a romantic.)

Q: Have you ever considered acting?

A: I have, but nobody’s ever asked me to! I’m open to the possibility.

UPDATE: Any new radio, TV, Acting in the near future?

      A. I’m still doing a lot of radio interviews in Ohio. I may look into some acting when I’m in LA in April.

Q: Most exotic place for a photo shoot?

A: Probably for a calendar shoot I did in Florida. I shot naked in the Gulf of Mexico in waist deep water. It was my idea to shoot commando. Wearing a shirt in the water seemed stupid to me. I just kept waiting for the shark attack, though. The shots turned out great in the end.

Q: How do you get in the mood for those hot and steamy covers?

A: Yet another good question. I’ve never really thought about it. The outfits, if there is one, help. I just keep my chin up and hope for the best most of the time. The photographer can guide you along as you go too.

Q: You were named “Fantasy Hunk Of 2001.″ How did you win, and how did it feel to win?

A: Fans from all over the world voted. That’s what was so cool about it. I did get a lot of mileage over that title. LOL

      Q: Describe your Playgirl experience?

A: I sent in some photos to them when my career was at a stand still. Who knew they would contact me within a week. It only took 2 years to get me in the magazine! It’s a very, very long story, but they’ve asked me to be a centerfold no less than 3 times and we always hit a snag. I was even on a TV show where I was supposed to be picked to be a centerfold. That didn’t work out either. I’m not dead yet. Maybe I can be in their Sexy Senior Citizen issue!
NEWS: At the time of this writing, C.J. is back with Ellora’s Cave. Here is what he says:

I recently reconnected with Ellora’s Cave Publishing and was their guest of honor at their 10th anniversary celebration. It was quite a nice weekend and happened to be in my own backyard in Ohio. They flew me to

      Golden Adonis by Kate Hofman

Florida to shoot several new covers. One of which was for owner/publisher, Jade Black’s first novel, “The Empress’ New Clothes” It was quite a HOT shoot. I have also done some more covers with Dark Castle Lords Publishing. I’ve done several great covers for Canadian author, Kate Hofman. She calls it her “Golden series”. All the heroes are blond. Woo hoo!

Thank you so much, C.J. for granting me this interview. I’m sure my readers will love meeting you, and believe me, the pleasure was all mine! Happy Valentine’s Day.
