Here we go… Week 12 Topic: “My Greatest Strength”

      PERSEVERANCE

Definition of perseverance from Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

      1. :  continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition :  the action or condition or an instance of persevering :  steadfastness

I don’t do every week’s challenge, but I try to get in the ones I can. With a new book coming soon, preparing to get it published keeps me busy.

       52-Week Blog Hop Challenge

What is my greatest strength? It took me a little time to come up with this though it should’ve come easily. Of course, I’d choose PERSEVERANCE as my greatest strength. I’d never continue writing if I didn’t have perseverance. Most people don’t know how often we get knocked down in this business of writing books and putting ourselves out there to be judged by the world. We, or I should say “I” knock myself down too. One bad review and my heart falls to the floor. It isn’t easy to pick it up and put it back in its place, open the laptop and continue writing. It doesn’t happen overnight though. It destroys me until I get back on my feet.

Perseverance is my strength in other areas of my life, too…

Without perseverance, I might not have survived childhood, my teen years, and my adult years—or being an author. I knew more waited out there, and I didn’t want to settle. Perseverance still helps me survive—to do what is needed, wanted. Life hasn’t always been easy. I came close to giving in, many times. To accept what life has dealt me, and sometimes I do…for a while until a strong push, a steadfastness inside of me, says, “NO WAY!”

I admit, persevering has gotten me into trouble by being stubborn enough to fight for what I want, or to go after what I need. For being steadfast—firm in purpose. My mom gave up on her purpose. Mom asked “How high” when my dad said “Jump.” A part of me determined at a young age that I wouldn’t let weakness, at the hand of others or from life itself, get the better of me, or to keep me down. It isn’t easy living with this strength, but it is my necessity to push forward…to survive–to get the job done.
