    • Life Goes On: Writing The Book Is The Easy Part Of The Job

      Posted at 9:33 am by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on May 12, 2015

Book ThreeA cover reveal is coming this week…Lord willing. It seems this is another book I’ve talked about and waited on forever. In reality, I didn’t talk about this one early on. Well, at least not on my blog, but my friends must be sick of hearing about it by now.

You see, at this point the delay might not be entirely my fault. I have to move. Yes, pack up and move. If you read my last post, you know I’m reiterating about the move. First, I have to find a place to live. This is slowly becoming a reality, and I can’t keep putting off looking because I have a book coming out. That book won’t get out if I don’t have a place to park my laptop, butt, or have WiFi to get connected.

Talking with my oldest son about moving last night, at least he made me laugh by saying, “Mom, you can’t live at Starbucks. They’ll come up to you and say, “Ma’am, you have to leave. You’ve been here three weeks. You need a shower. I’ve read your book over your shoulder. It’s good. Now get out of here and go publish it.” So, please understand. I’m not one to whine, but it seems I am–so I apologize.

No matter what, this is my job, my career after retirement, so it is up to me to “get the job done.” Readers: I bet I’m more excited for you to read Dane’s book, than you are to read it. ❤

Dane’s book is with the editor again right now so there is nothing I can do at this moment. This is killing me because I love my characters, their stories, and the setting. It’s a place I like to visit in my head, so to have that manuscript taken, it’s like someone took a family member away.

It’s all kind of like when my son moved to California. At first, I got lonely for him, so lonely, but then it became part of the norm. That’s how it is after a book gets published. Like a family member is now on their own. But, at least I don’t have to market my son! Oh, that sounded awful! I hope you know what I mean.

Maybe the stress is beginning to hit me now. For that reason, and to move on, I’ll do a cover reveal to share that part of the book with you. I also wrote a Pre-Book/ Pre-Story interview I’m considering posting, even though I said I’d never do another character interview. M’bad.

Pre-Story or Pre-book interview? What is that? Dane and I want to talk about his life before the book–before his story began.

I’ve done three character interviews here. Most of my books are hero focused, but somehow Velia crawled into her own interview. I relate to Velia in many ways.

Interview with Caulder McCutchen–Hero from Howdy, Ma’am and Hey, Cowboy.Interview with Velia ArmanoVelia and Caulder 3–Heroine from Howdy, Ma’am and Hey, Cowboy.

tristan Interview with Tristan— Cowboy Boss and his Destiny.

So now, Maybe Dane will get his interview out in the open. This is something that I really need to think about.

Anyone you’d like to see interviewed?

Let’s pretend this little poster says Tuesday. Yesterday I had to shut down due to storms in my area, and I didn’t get a chance to post this.

103750uwtmi18euuUntil the next time I hope you have a great week. Thanks for visiting.
