    • Tidbits and Short Snippet Saturday

      Posted at 10:25 am by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on November 28, 2015

How about a few updates, etc. before we get to my Short Snippet Saturday?

Did you notice I finished NaNoWriMo? I hit over 50K on November 23rd. Yep, that’s over 50K words in 23 days. I’m still counting words until the end of November.

      Capture

Now on to the reason for Saturday’s post. Here we go with another Short Snippet Saturday. Meet Jake and Beth.

My heroine decided to play hooky from her job today. Our hero was right there to accommodate her, although it was his idea in the first place. Are you surprised? Unedited version.

Once they got on pick up truckthe highway, Beth pulled her jeans from the bag, unsnapped her dress pants, and slipped them off.

Jake almost lost control of the truck when it ran off the road. “Girl, you need to warn me before you do something like that.”

Beth chuckled and sat there in her red bikini panties before pulling on her jeans. “You didn’t have to look.”

      “What if I hadn’t?”

“Humph!” She pulled her jeans on, giving him a show she hadn’t expected to give red underwear 2him. Sweat beaded on his face. She removed his hat and fanned him with it. “Down boy.”

He straightened his back and glanced out of the corner of his eye to the opening at the top of her shirt. Beth nonchalantly pulled her blouse together, but she wouldn’t button it. “What are you trying to see before you wreck your truck, rancher?”

“Tell me one thing and I’ll keep my eyes on the road. What color is your bra? Does it match your red bikini underwear?”

      “What bra?”

Jake’s truck hit the shoulder of the road. He laughed so hard he choked, and then he coughed until his eyes watered. “That’s the girl I remember. Let it all loose, baby.”

    • Short and Sweet…

      Posted at 4:31 pm by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on June 11, 2013

No, the title isn’t about me although I am short and sweet. ♥

You can find a new excerpt on my WEBSITE taken from Chapter One for—here I go again calling it—book two. Jeez, I need to do something about updating two different sites. Plus, I need to stop calling this book, well, look at what I call this book. You know…

      Guess what?

Soon I won’t have to give it a generic name because I have a title. You know how I know it has a title? Well, it’s because I sent everything for my book cover to my cover designer—almost everything. This, of course, includes a title. You all know how I struggled with this issue.

When taking a test, advice is usually to go with your first choice if you’re stumped. I sat through enough *M.E.A.P. testing in my career in education, and I’ve heard this manyQuestionMark2 times. (You know that state test that kids have to take.) Once again, I digress, but for a reason →

      First choice? First choice.

Some of you might recall an earlier post where I gave a number of potential book titles I had at the top of my manuscript. When I knew I’d write a sequel to Howdy, Ma’am, I had a title. Then, I came up with other ideas. And even more ideas, still one more. Friend’s ideas… I’m not giving it away here so don’t get excited. But, it seems I have reverted back to my original title—my first choice. Weird how that happens, huh?

      One more thing—

In an earlier post I mentioned there’d be two book covers—one for the front and one where PART TWO begins. Not anymore. One cover only, and yes, this is my final answer. One day in the near future I shall be doing a cover reveal. Anyone who wants to help—thanks.

This didn’t turn out so short and sweet after all. o_0
