    • Guest Post: Thistledown – Midsummer Bedlam by Teagan Ríordáin Geneviene #Fairy #Fantasy New Release

      Posted at 12:58 pm by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on December 24, 2019

H, folks! I have a guest for you today to share in her new book release! Some of you will know Teagan @teagangeneviene from her blog at Teagan’s Books, but if you’re new here, or to Teagan, I invite you to check out the work from a creative and talented writer. Read on…

Thistledown — Midsummer Bedlam is ready to fly to your shelves!

      Thistledown 2019 cover

Thistledown – Midsummer Bedlam, cover design by Teagan Geneviene

Thistledown — Midsummer Bedlam by Teagan Ríordáin Geneviene is now available in book form (Kindle and paperback). If you think you’re too old for a tale about faeries, it also has a dark side. For those who read the serial version at Teagan’s Books (blog), she added a little something to the ending that you haven’t seen.

Mary, thanks so much for hosting the launch of my launch of Thistledown — Midsummer Bedlam. It is a tale of faeries written for whimsical grownups, but suitable for children of all ages.

      You’re very welcome, Teagan.

In 2017, readers of my blog, Teagan’s Books, named many of the fairies (or faeries, as I prefer to call them) — or they let me make up names in their honor. The characters are not based on the real people. They are just a way for me to honor the people who followed Thistledown. Mary, I remember that you had a faery name ready when I asked. So, I want to introduce “Calico Rainbowforest” to your readers.

In writing this story, I thought about how ordinary things might be different for faeries. I created their unique and whimsical means of communicating. One of those was the Thistledown Daily Trumpet. It’s a newspaper and Calico Rainbow forest is the managing editor. She also wears some really cool-looking spectacles. Bedlam Thunder, the heroine, learns that she has more in common with Calico than she expected.

      Here’s the Book Blurb

Thistledown ― Midsummer Bedlam, by Teagan Ríordáin Geneviene is a wildly whimsical tale of faeries. It was originally written for a grownup audience, but it is suitable for children ages eight and over.

Thistledown is a world of color and light. It has faeries, hummingbirds, and ancient books of magic. Bedlam Thunder is a misfit faery who is afraid of heights. She is also a seer who has terrible visions of a parallel world devoid of color and brightness. The hate and darkness of that colorless world is seeping into Thistledown. Will Bedlam and her friends be able to save their home?

Thistledown ― Midsummer Bedlam, with its radiant creatures and faeries will lift your imagination to new heights.

    • Get Caught Reading! Gotcha…

      Posted at 9:07 am by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on April 29, 2016

Mary J McCoy-Dressel Books, Get Caught Reading

May is Get Caught Reading Month. That’s right. May is knocking on April’s door. Wouldn’t you want to get caught reading? I would because I love to read.

What is Get Caught Reading all about? Read on, my friends.

From the Get Caught Reading Website:

      “About Get Caught Reading.”

Get Caught Reading is a nationwide campaign to remind people of all ages how much fun it is to read. May is Get Caught Reading month, but the campaign is promoted throughout the year. Get Caught Reading is supported by the Association of American Publishers (AAP). Launched in 1999, “Get Caught Reading” is the brainchild of former Congresswoman Pat Schroeder, President and Chief Executive Officer of AAP, the industry association representing book publishers. She saw the opportunity to spread the word about the joys of reading through an industry-supported literacy campaign.

Be sure to check out this site.

For Get Caught Reading Month, I’ll be reblogging a mini series of mid-week posts from Teagan’s Books, author of Attonement, Tennessee an Urban Fantasy novel. You’ll find more information about Teagan on her blog.

She’ll be taking us on a little tour. Not only that, she’s also taking along a few bloggers and their fur babies. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for “yours truly” and Kasha, my fur baby. Stay tuned. Teagan has already written the first part of the mini series, so you’ll see that reblogged right here real soon. Like in a matter of minutes! I know you’ll enjoy the trip.

Teagan will explain more about her mini-series in the upcoming post.

      Let’s have fun!

Don’t forget to… Get Caught Reading!

Mary J McCoy-Dressel BooksWhat am I reading at the moment?

      • Interlude by Linda Lael Miller
      • Stories of Chance Romance by B.C. Deeks, Roxy Boroughs & Victoria Chatham. (All proceeds from this book are donated to advance the treatment of breast cancer.)
      • Maid for Love by Marie Force

Apparently I read like I write. More than one book at a time. 🙂 I don’t normally write more than one book at a time by choice.

      Have a good one!

    • All in a Day’s Work ~ Liebster Award

      Posted at 12:10 pm by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on December 19, 2013

liebsterA while back I was nominated for the Liebster Blog Award by Teagan Geneviene at Teagan’s Books. Thank you so much, Teagan. Luckily for me, she went easy on the rules. It’s time I finally take care of this.

      Here are the rules:

I’m going even easier on you bloggers. Rules say I’m supposed to nominate three blogs with under 200 followers, but how do I know how many followers you have? So, I am giving an open invitation to all and/or any of you. Feel free to call this Liebster Award yours. Enjoy.

Congratulations! I have nominated you for a Liebster Blog Award.
Here are the Liebster Blog Award (entirely optional) rules:
      1. Thank your Liebster Blog Award presenter on your blog (that’s me).
      2. Link back to the blogger who presented the award to you (that’s my site).
      3. Answer the questions posted for you in my blog.
      4. Copy and paste the blog award on your blog.
      5. Present the Liebster Blog Award to three blogs with 200 followers or less who you feel deserve to be noticed.
      6. Let them know they have been chosen by leaving a comment on their blog.

      My Questions and Answers:

      • Is proper grammar important (to) 2 (you) U? Most definitely, but I’m not perfect. I’m writing western romance now so I tend not to use it properly in my cowboy’s dialog and some narration. NOTE: Please—you’re/ your—get them right.
      • Is it hard to be honest in your writing? This is why I write fiction? No, I don’t find it hard at all. My Bull Rider Series is filled with honesty. Some can deal with it, some can’t.
      •  Why did you start blogging? Blogging was the first step to getting my name out there before my first book was published. Second, I started blogging because I thought I had something to say. Turns out I don’t have that much to say.
      •  Do you wish you could stop blogging? No. Umm, maybe sometimes.
      •  Do you believe in ghosts? Yes. I lived with one. Not that I liked living with him. It inspired a short story. Maybe one day I’ll lengthen and publish it.
      •  What do you do when you’re not blogging? Write my novels. Play with my dog. Read. Take pictures when I can.
      •  What would your once-in-a-lifetime day be? I’m choosing two. I wouldn’t be able to do both of these in one day and I want to do both. (The problem is, I don’t like flying.)

      >>  Day one: I realize I’d need more than one day for this, but since you asked… Visit Italy—go to Venice, Milan, and Tuscany–to tour, buy Valentino boots, and eat real Italian food. I’d love to listen to my favorite tenor Vittorio Grigolo in person. More by Vittorio. I know—I write about cowboys, bull riders, and horse ranchers but listen to Vittorio. Really, if you knew me, you’d get it.

      >>  Day Two: Check into a hotel in Arizona and find a cowboy to call me darlin’. Ride into the Superstitions on horseback. Have barbeque in the desert. Ride off into the sunset with the cowboy who calls me darlin’.

      • What are you terrible at? Math. Promoting my books like I should.

There you have it. It appears I do have something to say. 🙂
