    • 13 Things I’m Absolutely Sure About, Thirteen on Thursday

      Posted at 8:58 am by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on March 6, 2014

This idea originally came from a prompt I received in my email some time ago. The original prompt was for 10 things I’m absolutely sure about. Since it’s Thursday I am updating it a little and using it for my Thursday 13 this week.

Thirteen Things I’m Absolutely Certain About

      1. God is real To me. This is my opinion, and it is my blog. (I don’t mean to be snarky.)

      2. The sun rises every day (Even if you can’t see it behind the clouds.)

      Lake Michigan Sunrise

      Lake Michigan Sunrise

      3. The sun sets every day (Oh, yes so beautiful.)

      cropped-dreamstime_m_19865936.jpg4. The earth is round

      5. What goes up usually comes down (Usually)

      6. Rain helps make grass a rich green in color (I may never see it until August this year.)IMG_0300 (2)7. Murphy’s Law exists This needs to be in capital letters.

      8. My dog loves me ❤ (Aww, I love her too! Soooo much.)

      9. I need to write

      10. I love chocolate and music.

      11. I will kill a Christmas Cactus before it blooms (Not on purpose!)

      12. Hair grows no matter how many times it gets cut too short

      13. TV is a distraction. (This can be good and bad.) Updated: Netflix, Longmire, Limitless, Blindspot, The Voice, Scandal…. A few  years ago I gave up watching TV and listening to music. Times were bad then. I knew I was healed when I began watching TV and listening to music again.

      Enjoy your day.

13 Things About Tristan Carlson~Hero in my New Release~ Cowboy Boss and his Destiny, with Quotes from the Book

How did it get Thursday already? My computer says Thursday so it must be time for another Thursday 13 post. Thanks for stopping by.

      1. He’s lived on the Double Dutch Ranch for ten years.

“I’ve been here ten.” He guided her toward the barn. “I’ll fill ya in about it later. I gotta get to work.”

       2. Tristan’s dad taught him ranching.

      3. His horse is a black mustang.

“He’s a rescue horse and we make a great team.”

      4. He has a young daughter.

“Destiny is four, well, nearer to five now, she’ll tell ya five.”

      5. He’s a single father.

      6. Tristan has two brothers.

      7. His mom lives with him.

He snapped his gaze to her. “I live with my mother.”

      8. In addition to ranching, he publishes a ranching magazine.

      9. He barely gets enough sleep.calendar

Trying to make sense out of his calendar, she wondered when he took time for himself. His time frame for working on the magazine and ranch filled nearly the whole day, and he needed to pencil in time for sleeping. “He’ll burn out early at this rate.”

       10. Tristan hired Nora Trinity to assist with the ranching magazine to give him time to work the ranch.

      11. Six horses are in his personal barn.

       12. He has a boarder barn and boards horses.

“Maybe one of the adult riders will still be around. Victoria, a real barrel racer, boards here, too.”

      13. When he loves— image.png

“When I love, I love with everything within me.”

Seeing him with his child, this was obvious. Did he mean…yes, he meant exactly what he said, and it was like he wanted her to know it went much deeper than only with his child. That whatever he loved, he loved with everything inside of him. “I sense that about you, Tristan. Your actions and words are heartfelt.”

    • The Resolution/ Goal– NOT! Thursday 13

      Posted at 3:55 pm by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on January 5, 2012

My first Thursday 13 for 2012.   Happy New Year!

      1. Not going to back down on what I want. I am Woman, Hear me Roar…

      2. Not going to let myself get out of shape. (Once I get back into shape, of course.)

      3. Not going to let my body become lazy. (The treadmill has been seeing nothing but dust.)

      4. Not going into self-pity parties. Nope, not gonna do it. Laugh, laugh–

      5. Not going to neglect my friends. Hi FRIENDS—you’re all special to me.

      6. Not going to neglect my family. I lived too far from my family for seven years and I’ll never do it again. I love you, family.

      7. Not going to let half done manuscripts sit in my computer. I repeat- I’m not going to let half done manuscripts sit in my computer.

      8. Not going to get comfortable until a manuscript is finished.

      9. Not going to give up on Visions of Enchantment now that I have my publishing rights back.

      10. Not giving up on getting the rights back to Enchantment’s Embrace.

      11. Not going to keep putting off publishing to Kindle.

      12. Not going to settle with my own editing skills. Get real! We all need an editor in our life.

      13. Not going to eat a lot of junk food. Notice I said a lot. I can’t deprive myself or I’ll feel cheated. This does not include chocolate!

To do your own Thursday 13, follow these rules.

    • Reblog: Thirteen Things I’ve Done With NaNoWriMo in Two Days

      Posted at 8:34 am by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on November 3, 2011

This is a Reblog from one of my previous NaNoWriMo years. My second day of NaNo happened to fall on a Thursday and I needed a Thursday Thirteen Meme for that day. If you’re new to NaNoWriMo, take a look, because you’ll probably find yourself doing the same thing, although I must admit, 10k words in two days might be a little rare. You have to get a jump on it when you can. Here goes–

When you’re writing 50,000 words in 30 days, forget the rules of writing. You’ll kick yourself in the rear for it when it comes to editing in December, but it’s all part of it. For the 30 days of working on your Nano novel, just WRITE.

      1. Wrote a lot of Words so far using as few contractions as possible

      2. Created many paragraphs 🙂

      3. Shame on me for using too many adjectives

      4. Yikes, lots of adverbs

      5. Misspelled words

      6. Drank a lot of Coffee

      7. Deleted  a few words, sentences . . . (Shhh, don’t tell)

      8. Wrote run-on sentences

      9. Challenged myself to sprints

      10. Wrote almost 10,000 words in less than 3 days (Will be over 10,000 by tonight)

      11. Stayed in jammies most of the first day

      12. Created a dilemma for myself and the characters

      13. Used a lot of strikethroughs instead of deleting

NOTE: I can see my editor cringing right now if she reads this.

Update: Well, here it is, October 2015 and it’s time to update this post. First off, I no longer do what that above lists suggest. Nope, not anymore. Of course the above list follows the rules. Each year I participated, brought new experiences, and I’ve learned a lot since then. This new post link might help even more–  https://maryjdresselbooks.com/2014/10/21/my-nanowrimo-experience-has-evolved-2/
