    • Seasoned with Destiny: A Gift of Love

      Posted at 3:10 pm by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on December 25, 2020

      I proudly present to you:

Double Dutch Ranch Series: Love at First Sight, Book #5

      Book Description

Readers have grown to love the Double Dutch Ranch series and the Carlson family. Return to Canyon Junction with Book Five.

Heartaches, hot flashes, and new beginnings.

Content with her family and new grandbabies on the way, Judy Carlson is happy—despite day-to-day struggles of running a ranch and memories of sadness they share. Menopausal changes remind her birthdays arrive too doggone soon. On sleepless nights, she longs for a partner to snuggle up beside. She never minds gazing at a strong cowboy, a man with a handsome smile, or with an intellectual touch of silver in his hair. She observes this daily in their seasoned ranch foreman, Selva Rosado. Though she won’t admit to an attraction until an emotional and physical warming encompasses her when he’s around.

However, after dancing a night away with Dale Connor three years ago, she’d considered settling down again. Then he disappeared on a clandestine trip, only to return with intentions as mysterious as his journey, and trouble from his past. She learns how right her family is to worry and how wrong she is to ignore intuition. Yet she can’t overlook their loyal foreman in the background who waits and watches with his own mysteries.

Two men vie for her hand. How can a cowgal decide which one will park their boots beside hers at the end of each day? Before making any decisions, she aims to discover all of their secrets.

Author Note: Seasoned with Destiny: A Gift of Love is Judy’s story. However, her three sons will not sit back quietly when everything they love is at stake. Therefore, you’ll see chapters in their points of view, too, plus a chapter from a special man.

How about a little sneak peek from the first chapter? Yeah? All Right!

      Chapter 1

Judy walked cautiously into the great room and peered into the kitchen. The mumble and jumble from her family came to a halt. She peered around the room. “What’s the matter? You act like you’ve never seen me wear makeup before. Yes, it’s a new dress. I advise every one of you to keep your attitudes in line tonight.”

They all looked stunned, but Jase, her firstborn, stood. “Should we sit down to have a talk, Ma? You haven’t had a real date for a long time. You never fooled me. You dated another guy for many years, but he never had your heart. Need any advice?” Jase roared. Tristan and Dane stood at the counter snickering.

Jase continued. “Just saying. I don’t want to have to rough him up any, so we need to set up some boundaries in advance.”

Judy rolled her eyes at the so-called leader of the pack. “Why, Jase Carlson. If you weren’t so big, I’d smack your behind. Instead, I’ll have Brenna do it.”

“Hey!” Brenna waddled up to Jase. “Don’t bring me into this.”

“Come on, Bren,” Jase smirked. “Smack my ass, doll.”

Brenna patted his behind. “Watch it big guy. You know better than to mess with me right now.”

Jase drew her over in front of him and slipped his hands to her round belly. “Because of this kid? Huh, little Mama?”

“What do you think?” Brenna narrowed her eyes but smiled and lifted her face for a kiss.

Judy carried the Cussin’ Jar over to Jase. “Now.”

      “Aww, come on.”

      “Five bucks, mister.”

      “Damn, you raised the price?”

“That’ll be ten bucks. Between Brenna and Nora, I’ll have two more grandbabies. The cost went up. If you don’t like it, stop cussin’. Shall we make it an even twenty?”

“I don’t mean to in front of you, Ma.”

“Habits are hard to break.” Judy smiled at the friendly banter, but she saddened as this pregnancy reminded her of Jase and Brenna’s last one. She’d had a stillborn birth at five months with a little boy named Timothy. Today, little Timmy would be the age of Nora and Tristan’s three-year-old son, Shiloh. It had been one of the most difficult things the family had ever faced. She chose to believe Timmy rested in his grandpa Bill’s arms in Heaven.

Jase pretended to zip his mouth but ignored the jar. “I’ll get it later. The kids took all my cash.”

Tristan, her middle son who held the weight of the family on his shoulders, took over where Jase left off. “You’re awful calm, Mom, for a first date. Holding out on us and seeing Dale on the side? Slipping out at night? Huh?”

“It’s none of your business, but no. Dale and I got along at the wedding. It’s almost like we’d known each other for years.” She only fooled herself. Too much time had passed to have those feelings for him now. Three years was too much time, and she’d heard different rumors concerning why he’d disappeared, but she didn’t have the heart to ask those who knew him. This evening, she intended to find out if they were true. Maybe she wouldn’t inquire on their first date.

“You don’t know him.” Tristan frowned. “If it isn’t us watching out for you, who will? It’s no different than the third degree we’d get from you on our dates.”

“Yeah, Ma. Remember when you coerced me to take Brenna to the hotel after just meeting her?” Jase leaned his head to the side to escape Brenna’s hand from covering his mouth.

Judy nodded toward Brenna’s belly. “I was right, wasn’t I?”

      “Wasn’t she, Jase?” Brenna warned.

Jase patted her tummy. “Okay, darlin’, she was right.”

Judy brushed her hands forward in a sweeping motion. “Humph. Let me finish getting ready. You all go home before he gets here. I don’t need you scaring him off.”

Jase and Dane pulled out a chair. Dane nodded to his brother. “Hey, Tristan, bring over some sandwich fixings.”

“Uh-uh. No, you don’t.” Judy took hold of his and Jase’s sleeves and attempted to pull them out of the chairs. Instead, they sat speechless, and they must’ve applied glue to their jeans because none of them budged. “You boys, git. Come back to make your sandwiches after I leave.”

Jase grinned at Brenna. “Come on, guys. She can’t kick us out of the driveway. Dale will have to come through us first.”

She could spit Sonoran sand right now. Judy pushed Jase toward the door. “Wanna bet? Go home. I’ll call if I need you.”

Selva Rosado, their ranch foreman, tapped on the door, entering with a confident air about him. He carried a bouquet. “Tristan, can I see you in the barn? We have a slight problem.”

Tristan grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge. “Sure. Those flowers for me?”

      Selva chuckled. “No, amigo.”

Judy smiled at Selva who had worked on the Double Dutch for years and had been good friends with Bill and her. The man had a swagger that caught her attention more times than she’d want to admit. She’d always imagined Bill would have the same touch of silver in his hair as Selva’s. “What are you doing with those flowers? Got a date yourself?”

“Nah, not me. Good evening, Judy.” Handing her the flowers, Selva gazed at Judy from the floor up. “I saw these at the store today. They were the last bunch, sitting all alone. The first thing I thought of was how nice they’d look on your kitchen table.” He cleared his throat and nodded to Tristan. “Sorry to barge in on you all like this.”

Tristan took a swig from the water bottle. “I’ll be right there. Mom’s got a date. We’re sticking around to intimidate him a little.”

Selva lowered his eyes to Judy’s. “A date? Back with Martyn?”

Judy strolled over to Selva, touched his upper arm, and thanked him for the flowers. “Don’t listen to him, and no, it isn’t Martyn.” She turned to Tristan but eyed all three boys. “You go out to the barn to see what’s the matter. Stay there until you leave for home. I don’t need you here when Dale comes. Go.” She swung her arm toward the door with her finger pointing.

Jase and Dane each gave her a hug before following Tristan to the door. Dane hesitated. “How come Brenna gets to stay?”

“Have you boys reverted back to teenagers?” Judy faced Brenna. “Now, honey, I love you like you’re blood, but gather the kids from outside and skedaddle. Please, all of you go home.”

Dane frowned. “Let’s get out of here, guys.”

      “I love you boys.”

“We love you, too, Ma,” Jase called over his shoulder.

“Love ya, Mom, behave tonight.” Dane, her youngest and a protector of everything, gave one of the smiles he’d used to get his way as a boy. She couldn’t help but return it.

Selva trailed through the kitchen behind them all, holding up at the door. He met her gaze. “You look nice tonight. Is it Dale Connor who you’re dating? Roxanne’s father?”

“I wouldn’t say dating. He’s been gone. Do you remember him from the wedding a few years back?”

“Yes, ma’am and for other reasons. I heard he’d returned. Be careful, Judy.”

Judy tilted her head inquisitively. “Whatever for? Is there something I should know?”

He put on his hat, opened his mouth as if to speak, but turned and exited.

Hmm. What had that been about? Judy eyed his tall frame and muscles a senior personal trainer might die for, until Selva strode into the barn with Tristan. She padded over to lock the back door. Sighing, she wrung her hands at her midriff. A smile brightened her face upon spotting the flowers on the island. She picked up the mixed spring bouquet, got a vase from the china cabinet on the far wall, and arranged them in water. Tonight, he’d had on the familiar cologne. The beautiful flowers were what she needed to bring a calm over her, but it didn’t last long. His car rolled into the driveway three years too late.

Ah, I love Judy and her story!

Oh, one more thing, and I don’t like asking but… I haven’t been able to set up any promotion for this book because I didn’t think I’d get it out this year, so if y’all can help me spread the word, I’ll be grateful.

      Posted at 11:41 am by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on September 22, 2017

Welcome to the first day of Fall. Today autumn officially arrives at 4:02 p.m. EDT in the Northern Hemisphere. From The Farmer’s Almanac:

The word equinox comes from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night).

Week 38. The best parts of each season.

      #MFRWauthor

I wrote a post for last week, but I didn’t get it posted on time. Last week the topic was Five Ways To Win My Heart. I hope you don’t mind me jotting the five ways to win my heart at the bottom of this post. Skip reading the delayed snippet if you choose. I won’t know.  🙂

Now on to this week’s topic: The best parts of…

      Spring

Rebirth. Butterflies. No snow. Everything outside is fresh and new. The grass is turning a pretty Kelly green. Hyacinths and crocuses bloom. Buds appear on trees. The air smells so fresh after a spring rain.

      Summer

Longer days. Vacation. The Beach. Blue skies and fluffy clouds. Roses. Fresh vegetables and fruit. Fireworks. No snow. Camping. People camp in anything from tents to 5th wheels or motor homes. My family has camped in ground tents, pop-up tents, a pickup camper (Remember those?), and a 5th wheel. Sitting around a campfire at night is romantic and fun for those who enjoy it.

Mary J McCoy-Dressel, Western RomanceSummer vacation doesn’t mean to me what it used to when I worked, but I love this season. Then, summer couldn’t come soon enough. School dragged until the last day. At my last job in middle school, all the teachers stood outside at the bus stop and waved good-bye to the students. The students got a big kick out of it. Lordy, were we happy! So were the kids.

      Autumn

Beauty. Cider Mills. Candy and caramel apples. Cooler temps. Longer walks. Less lawn cutting. Photography. The crunch of leaves. A coating of leaves as they pile up everywhere. Who doesn’t enjoy a drive during the autumn when trees put on their stunning autumn coats only to lose them too quickly? This is my favorite time of year.

      Winter

Holidays—Thanksgiving. Christmas, New Year’s Eve. Decorations. Christmas lights. Turkey. Cozy fire. Snowmen. Snuggling into a warm bed. The first snowfall. After the first snowfall, it can melt and not come back until Christmas Eve. Then it can melt again. Do you like sitting in front of a fireplace? I can’t imagine what the holidays will be like this year with both my kids living far away. My son is moving today.  😦

Remember, folks, this is a Marketing for Romance Writers dot org BLOG HOP. Please check out the other participants HERE.

      Thanks for reading! Enjoy autumn.

Here’s where I’m sneaking in a quick rundown of Five Ways to Win my Heart from last week’s topic.

      1. Show respect and accept me for who I am. I’ll do the same for you.

      2. Make me laugh.

      3. Flirting with other women when I’m with you, especially with a woman who is with another man, won’t earn you brownie points.

      4. How you introduce me to your friends and acquaintances says a lot. Do you introduce me as a friend, when we both know I’m so much more? Are you ashamed to admit I’m your girlfriend, fiancée, wife? Freaking introduce me properly, please. At least use my name if you can’t think of anything else.

      5. Remember my birthday and our anniversary. Flowers, candy, or gifts aren’t necessary. Yes, they are nice to receive. BUT, if you took the time to pick out a card and tell me happy birthday / anniversary, you’ve won my heart, sweetie.

The word “again” is in my title…  I’ve reblogged the post before, and I even reblogged the Reblog. Yes, I’m rolling my eyes at myself. Why do it again? I’ve had many new followers since 2011 when the post had been written, and new followers since 2013 when I decided to repost. I’ve lost the ability to reblog the post again, so I have to link to it. My writing has changed and improved so much since I wrote the post, which makes me proud to know I’m still learning. https://maryjdresselbooks.com/2011/08/02/inspiration-from-long-ago/

This is inspiring to me because I had someone else tell me at the mere age of thirteen what I had known all along. “You should be a writer.” Those of you who have been around here since 2011 or even 2013, you’ve seen this, so I apologize for talking about and linking to this post yet again. But to this day I give thanks to my seventh grade language arts teacher. I realize this post is more inspiring to me than you, but since it’s Tuesday and time for Tuesday Inspiration for the Muse, this is what I’m posting today. On a side note, thanks to all of you who have stuck around since 2011.

Do you remember who or what inspired you to follow your dreams?

      Thank you for reading.

    • Meet the Heroine~ This Week’s Star: Beth

      Posted at 3:21 pm by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on February 11, 2017

sunset sky, silhouette of cowgirl sitting, knee up, arm leaning over knee, Mary J McCoy-Dressel, western romance Blog post Meet the Heroine series

Beth Marconi is the heroine in Whispers of Forever: Mending Christmas and the next heroine in my Meet Our Heroines mini-series.

      Mary J McCoy-Dressel, western romance

Beth dragged Jake into the picture for this post. Model portrayal- Ben and Gezzi from Period Images

What can I say about Beth? I published the book in November, so I’ll have to give her some thought. One thing I can say is she pined for Jake for…well, since she was fifteen years old when she met him in the high school detention room. Yep, Beth went to detention. Jake says:

What could’ve been better to a seventeen-year-old bad-boy? A hottie with a bad bone to send her to detention had fit his bill.

      Mary J McCoy-Dressel western romance

      • Beth is a compassionate woman. She’s sexy. Fun. A bad-bone still lurks beneath her calm, grown-up exterior. Bad in a good way, of course.
      • She has always been close to her mom, and Beth is  concerned for her mom’s future.
      • Ah, but Beth is pretty with coppery hair and green eyes. She is now my youngest heroine since the other ladies keep aging as all the series move on.
      • Beth is a whiz at math, but she doesn’t use it in her job.
      • This lady wants to be treated as an equal.
      • In high school, she got along better with the guys than the girls, but she had one close girlfriend. The girls bullied her because of her relationship with an older, popular guy in school…Mr. Jake Lawton.

She’s strong-willed. I repeat…strong-willed. But she can be hurt easily. Give her a line she doesn’t like, and she’ll damn well give it right back… Proof? Jake’s POV:

Before speaking, he shook his head. If he wasn’t already buzzed, he’d put a damn shot into the coffee. Ross had not acted like the type who’d hire call girls. “Come on. This isn’t the nineteenth century.”

“Stop making fun of it. This happens more than you think. You don’t know his grandmother. Being the one who raised him, she had a lot of power over his life and future.”

“Figures. What a wuss! How the hell did you meet Ross? No, wait, don’t you dare tell me you were—” Had Beth been a…a call girl—the way she’d met Ross? God almighty. He sank against the sofa back. Somebody shoot me right now.

“Shut up. No, I wasn’t! Damn you, Jake Lawton.” Beth rose abruptly, stomping. She stomped not once, not even twice, but three times. “Damn you. How dare you. I don’t know you.” She turned toward the door, came back to shove his shoulder hard, then she took a step.

“Don’t go. I’m sorry. But dammit, Beth. Have you listened to this story?”

“I should slap your handsomely, sick-looking face, but it’s apparent someone already took care of the deed for me. Humph!” She sat back down, folding her arms. “Yes. I know how it sounds.”

End of snippet. Oh, I love this girl!

    • #AmWriting Sunday Ramblings at the Blog of a Neglectful Blogger

      Posted at 2:07 pm by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on November 13, 2016

Mary J McCoy-Dressel Books, western romanceDon’t be shocked. LOL. It’s me, stopping in to let y’all know I’m still around. I haven’t only neglected my blog, but I’ve been neglectful of yours, too. If I wrote about all the things keeping me away, it’d be boring to you. It was semi-hell for me from a writing prospective. Let’s say almost anything that could go wrong with publishing a book, did.

The book isn’t out yet, so I’m still holding my breath. This hell began on Labor Day weekend. Whispers of Forever should’ve been out in early October. It’s amazing how one person can…no, I’ll leave it at that.

To make it short, and on top of everything else, my computer messed up twice. It had to go see the Geeks each time. A whole week the first time! I had edits coming back any day, or so I thought. After the second time with the Geeks, I bought a new computer. OUCH! Dang, they got expensive in the last few years. Ok, life goes on.

Why isn’t my book out? My book is with the formatter again. I had to cancel my formatting date three times before I could finally send it to her. This is before I had to find a new editor. God bless my new editor for taking on a partially edited book.

My formatter does wonderful work, but she wants me to check the Smashwords .mobi, and epub files. This time I read through the book one more time instead of browsing for formatting issues. Yeah, I read the whole book. Again.

Darn, but if I didn’t catch a huge, I mean HUGE issue with my story. All it was, was a couple words, but the couple words messed with the whole timing of a scene. WHEW! Am I glad I caught it before someone else did. It was Jake’s fault. He’s the one who said it in the wrong place. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

So, between two editors and myself, this issue was missed.

Where am I now in publishing this book? Haha, that is almost funny. If I don’t laugh, I’ll cry. I’m waiting on my formatted files again after fixing the timing error. I was lucky she could get me in again this time of year with so many Christmas books being published. INCLUDING the one I’m TRYING to publish. I believe this book can be read any time of the year, and not just Christmas, so I have that going for me. Feel free to insert four letter words anywhere above this line because I have said plenty.

End of rant, but you only heard a bit of it.

Since I blamed the hero for his misplaced statement, I owe him an apology. I know that redhead has his brain in a spin. Not to mention, his son lands in detention too many times. He needs a damn stiff drink. You’ve met Jake briefly in some short excerpts, but not enough to know what is in his heart. He’s a sweetie and as usual, I have fallen in love with another hero. OH, I care a ton about my heroines, too. Anyway, yes, the book is about ready to be published.

Here’s my hero and he’s raring to go.

      First Love.

      Second Chances.

What can stand in their way this time?

Mary J McCoy-Dressel, western romance, cowboys

Jake and Beth’s story will be along soon.

Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, western romance, small town romance, first love. second chances

And life goes on away from the computer desk.

One amazing and awesome thing did happen in October. I have a new daughter-in-law! Yes, my youngest son did get married on a beautiful fall day. Beautiful except for the rain. Haha. It didn’t matter or spoil the day. They got married in a gazebo surrounded by beautiful Michigan autumn colors. Parents were the only ones invited. My son calls it an elopement, but parents got to be there. Fine with this mamma!

This is the bride’s bouquet. I was in charge of picking it up and delivering it to her. Another thing? I’m so proud of her for choosing to wear my grandmother’s engagement ring. My son’s wedding is the fourth generation that ring has gone through in this family. They had a wedding band custom designed to go with it, and it looks like the perfect set together. I couldn’t be happier to see it on her finger.

      Western Romance, Mary J McCoy-Dressel

They had a Scottish handfasting ceremony before the traditional ceremony. This goes way back to the term of “tying the knot.” My daughter-in-law, Christie, used six green ribbons. With each ribbon draped over their hands, the reverend had a question for them. I came across this link, and, if interested, you can scroll down to “Handfasting Ceremony 2” and you’ll have an idea what they said to each other.

Do you think I cried? You bet, but I contained the tears. My ex-husband kept looking at me, and his eyes teared up, too. Afterward, all the parents went to brunch, where the restaurant had a gorgeous wedding table set up for us. The bride and groom remained in the park with the photographer and joined us later.

I’d post a picture of them, but I need permission first. Both my son and daughter-in-law aren’t into posting pictures on social media, and I’ve been asked before not to post pictures of them. Oooh, but I want to show them off so badly.

Is it any surprise I’m not doing NaNoWriMo this year?

Have a great day. Hopefully, I’ll be announcing a book release before the year is over.  😦 LOL. (not funny) It better be sooner. Newsletter subscribers know about a release before anyone. 🙂

This got long. Maybe it’s a sign I’m back?

      ChristmasAtLoveHouse_MED

What’s This Book About? I’m so glad you asked!

Mary J McCoy-Dressel, Bull Rider Series, Christmas at Love House bk 3

Four years later, Velia and Caulder finish up another year of bull riding. They settle into their comfy abode in the snowy Allegheny Mountains to celebrate the Christmas season with a houseful of guests. La vita e bella! But why does their happily-ever-after have to come with an expiration date? Without warning, their most chilling nightmare comes true. An innocent misunderstanding, and a startling realization discovered too late—puts their contented little family at risk.

On top of everything else, watching a new love bloom between two of the McCutchen guests, isn’t part of their agenda. Reece “Foley” Wilson, a former teammate, comes into contact with Velia’s cousin at the last show of the season and again while visiting for the holiday. Grown up and feisty, Natale Valente-Armano fell in love with this cowboy as a lovesick teen. Now, life has changed for both of them. How will they handle the unfamiliar thoughts and urges overtaking them? And, how will la famiglia respond to this unexpected romance?

A little Christmas magic will be a welcome guest at Love House, but regardless if it arrives or not…during this bittersweet interlude—Velia and Caulder dare their happily-ever-after to be anything less than, “forever.”

    • Tuesday Inspiration for the Muse: A Series is Born

      Posted at 11:43 am by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on June 14, 2016

Y’all might wonder how a post this long can be a Tuesday Inspiration for the Muse post. The answer is near the end but it has to do with the making of a series, and some of you.

      Mary J McCoy-Dressel Books

Howdy, Ma’am was going to be the only book when I wrote Caulder and Velia’s story.

      No series.

      One book.

      One ending.

Though the first book is a full novel, complete in itself, the hero and heroine in the Bull Rider Series books had so much more to tell after the first book. Hey, Cowboy materialized when I neared the end of Howdy, Ma’am, and a two book series had been born. Can two books be called a series? Mine was called a series. Now, it could be called a trilogy, I suppose.

Mary J McCoy-Dressel books, Western Romance

During the writing of Hey, Cowboy, all of my promo stated this was for the final book in the series. Doggone it, I began thinking about how I could write a third book if the mood struck me to continue the series—so I removed the words “final book” from my website. When I wrote the end to Hey, Cowboy, I truly meant it to be the “end.” But, I still kept an open mind.

Just in case, I laid the groundwork, and in the back of my mind, I knew which two characters deserved a story…if…if I made a future decision to include a third book, which I didn’t want to write. But, what if?

Back when this ideMary J McCoy-Dressel Books, western romance, Tuesday Inspiration for the Musea materialized, the idea of connecting these two characters was far-fetched, but my muse sat on my shoulder, tapping now and then against my temple. The taps turned to hard flicks and she hounded me, repeating on occasion, “Book three, book three.” You can imagine how I struggled with myself over this said third book, when there was only supposed to be one book and one ending.

After publishing Hey, Cowboy, Book #2, readers asked to see one of the other young bull riders get his own story. How could I say no? This happened to be the same bull rider I had imagined getting his own story early on. What could I do but sit down and begin writing? This was done before I announced a third book. I mean, what if I couldn’t write this character a whole story? No way could I tell readers I’d started a book only to learn I couldn’t “bring it”?

Bull Rider Series, Mary J. McCoy-Dressel,

As it turned out, I almost couldn’t “bring it” due to being sick, blah, blah, you know the story. I suppose it was destiny to write a third book. These two characters didn’t get their own book, though, but instead they share their story right alongside Velia and Caulder in Christmas at Love House: A Bittersweet Interlude.

This week’s “inspiration” stems from fans of this series. Without you, Velia and Caulder’s story would’ve ended with Howdy, Ma’am. Bull Rider Series fans? This book was written because you asked for book three. Thank you.

Cover Reveal is Coming This Week!

      Oh, by the way…

Cowboy Boss and his Destiny was only intended to be a short, sweet and sexy holiday tale about a single father who happened to be a rancher. One book. One ending. We all know what happened next…it became a series. If I had planned on a series, I would have plotted out the whole series in advance. Instead, I had to go back while still writing the first book, and fit in leads, plus add a couple more brothers to the story.

With the new spin-off series to the Double Dutch Ranch Series also coming out in 2016, I intend the first book to be part of a series from the beginning, and I have at least two other books planned. Personally, I love writing a series where my characters continue to pop up in the other books.

Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart. ~William Wordsworth

I have heard other authors say they hadn’t planned on writing a series when they had written the first book.  This is probably common among some authors who have written a series, but of course, I can’t speak for other authors.

How about you, series authors? Did you plan out a series from the beginning, or did you get part way through the first book and say, “Hell no! There’s more to tell”? Or did your readers encourage you, too? I’m curious to know whether your series started out to be a series.

    • Short Snippet Saturday: Euphoric

      Posted at 11:29 am by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on February 20, 2016

      Christmas Banner

Do you love that word “euphoric or euphoria?” Mmm, I do. It conjures up all kinds of images for sensual, romantic love. I present to you Saturday’s short snippet. Today, I mean it when I say “short snippet,” but it’s sweet. 🙂 Maybe it’s a little mushy but I’ve been accused of that before. What’s wrong with a cowboy in love?

Related to euphoria from Merriam-Webster (Synonyms) cloud nine, elatedness, elation, ecstasy, exhilaration, heaven, high, intoxication, paradise, rapture, rhapsody, seventh heaven, swoon, transport

Y’all have met my bull rider before. Trust me, there is nothing mushy about him, but one thing can turn him to mush. His heroine.

Italian class meets Bull Rider rowdy. Sparks will fly in the Bull Rider Series Books. Book Three is coming in 2016. More sparks!

      Enjoy the graphic.

I set up a page for book three. Yes, it has a title now! It has for a while, but I kept it secret until I leaked it to my Mailing List.

      Enjoy your weekend.

    • Countdown to Cover Reveal for Summer Release

      Posted at 11:28 am by Mary J. McCoy-Dressel, on June 30, 2014

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????You don’t hear me talk a whole lot about the second book in the Double Dutch Ranch Series: Love at First Sight, other than to say it exists. I haven’t released the title yet, but it can be found in the back matter of Cowboy Boss.

This is the week I’ll do a cover reveal. My mailing list subscribers have already seen it. I’ve kept fairly quiet about what this book is about. The blurb that accompanies the cover reveal will give more information. Expect this book to be out this summer.

Cowboy Boss and his Destiny is book one. DidWelcome_to_Arizona_Sign (2) you know this book was a Top Pick with a rocking five stars at The Romance Reviews?

Of course, I hope you like the Carlson family enough to want to check them all out. This series keeps growing. Now, there’s a book four. A new love blooms at the Double Dutch Ranch. But…that isn’t all. An idea for a fifth book came to mind.0013 (4) extra small

The hero in book two is Jase Carlson. He’s Tristan’s oldest brother. Jase is introduced in the first book, but his life took a huge turn. You can’t have a romance without a heroine. Jase fought me all the way on this…until he remembered something about women—how good it feels to hold one. This is where Brenna Page comes in… You’ll meet them both this week.

      Also…

Cropped and low pixel 2I’ve been consumed with the second book in the Bull Rider Series. Nothing about this book went to plan except I wrote the story that called to me, and then cut about 10K words. Hey, Cowboy, Bk 2 will be out in July 2014. Sometimes it feels like I lived this story, I’ve been with it so long. If only I could feel that cowboy Caulder’s kisses. Kinky? LOL I even dreamed Velia’s nightmare once.

See y’all later this week… Until then please be safe. Don’t forget the sun protection. 🙂
